Open Studio Time at Sunny Point Annies Boathouse Pottery

Dates: June 13, 2018
You’re invited to explore your creativity at Annie’s Boathouse Pottery at Sunny Point this summer during open studio hours. For $10/hour (and $10 per 10 pounds of clay) and under the supervision of an experienced potter, use the wheel, the slab roller, clay molds and our large variety of pottery tools to build your own clay  creations, by yourself or with family or friends. Children welcome with adult supervision. Studio limit is 8 people.   Please understand that completing projects in clay is a multi-stage process. Work that you create will need approximately a week to dry sufficiently for a first (bisque) firing before glaze can be applied. Once your piece has been decorated (either in a subsequent open studio time or in a glaze class) it will need to be fired again. A complete firing schedule is posted at the pottery studio. Students who create work in an Arts Center workshop can complete their work in open studio time as part of their initial class fee. Open studio hours will start the week of June 10 and run through the week of September 24. The final bisque firing of the season will be Saturday, September 22. The final glaze firing for the season will be Saturday, September 29. Please arrange to pick up work you produce the week after it is scheduled to be glaze fired. Starting June 13, open studio hours are: Wednesdays 12 – 3 pm, Thursdays 10 am – 2 pm, Fridays 3-7 pm and Saturdays 10 am – 3 pm. In cases where a pottery class is scheduled during open studio hours there will be no studio hours that day.
