BONNIE BARNEY
You
have to look, to really really look, at something to draw it
or paint it. And once you've taken the time to look that completely,
you belong to that image. Then you interpret it in your art,
and own the experience.
Bonnie Barney retired from a long career in education
to really look at the beautiful Finger Lakes landscapes around
her, and to make them her own.
Travel has drawn her to paint on four continents, and to know
those sights so much more clearly than if she had seen them only
through a camera lens.
And the time she spends listening to music, working in her garden,
and birdwatching also inspires her work.
Bonnie enjoys the company of several artists around
Keuka Lake who often paint together. They can be found along
the roadside or in a vineyard, painting and critiquing each other.
This group of six has an annual "Art Barn Sale" at
254 East Lake Road, Penn Yan, this year July 2 & 3, 2004,
10:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
Bonnie's work is also found at The Gallery, 119 East
Elm Street, Penn Yan; at the Hammondsport Art Show in the park
July 12 & 13; and at Fine Arts and Wines, August 15 &
16 at Hunt Country Vineyards, Branchport. |
