For all those who seek the opportunity to learn and are open to the creative spirit within, the Arts Center Educational Workshop is the place to be. Every week there are classes and workshops hosted by ACYC in a multitude of genre and media. ACYC has classes for all ages from pre-schoolers to octogenarians. Join us and have fun while learning and creating.

Our educational workshops provide opportunities to explore media from oil, acrylic and watercolor painting to drawing, collage, clay, printmaking, book making, basketry and creative stamping techniques. The literary arts are also explored with classes in memoir-writing and readings at the Arts Center. 

ACYC instructors are highly qualified and skilled in their disciplines.  They enjoy bringing out the creative side of all their workshop participants, from beginners to advanced.

Learning to Paint Landscapes - Grant Lounsbury

    LEARNING TO PAINT LANDSCAPES

Building a Polymer Clay Veneer
Instructor: Janis Long
    Dates: March 9, 2019

    Students will learn how to build a colorful veneer with polymer clay.  Then roll, shape, carve, stamp, bake and drill that veneer into several pair of earrings and/or pendants.  This class is for all skill levels and limited to 10 students.  $40 for members, $48 for not-yet-members, $10 materials fee to instructor.  Please call the Arts Center to register at 315-536-8226.

    Daniel Roemmelt has become known for his colorful and imaginative portraiture paintings.  Learn to let go and have fun as you explore how to reimagine a face in a photograph into an artful oil painting.  This class will include mixing oil paints, use of warm and cool colors on shadow and highlights, painting wet in wet and pushing color.  You too can learn to paint a portrait with confidence.  Open to painters of all abilities and experience.   $150 members, $180 not-yet-members.  Please call the Arts Center to register at 315-536-8226.

    PET PORTRAITS / AMAZING ANIMALS!

     The Arts Center of Yates County is bringing back world-renowned “paper painter” Elizabeth St. Hilaire for a three-day pet / animal portraits collage workshop.  Pets and Amazing Animals are not limited to man's best friend - goats, roosters, llamas and elephants are included. Watercolor Techniques

    WATERCOLOR TECHNIQUES

    Take your watercolor paintings to the next level. This 3 day watercolor workshop at Sunny Point will focus on glazing (working in layers) to achieve more luminescence and depth in your watercolor paintings. In addition to teaching techniques, Kathy will cover planning the steps of your paintings, which is especially important in watercolor.
